New Routine

Ty is obsessed with our toilet plunger. Yes, that is what you see in the tub.

We have started a new bed time routine with Ty this week. The first change is after Ty's bath we brush his teeth with his very own tooth brush. The Dr. said now is the time to start brushing his teeth after every meal and before bed time. I knew Ty would like a tooth brush because he loved mine. Now most of you are going to think I am crazy but I was still giving Ty a bottle with milk in it right before he went to bed. To be honest it was one of my favorite times of the day because Ty would be all ready for bed and then I would sit in the rock and give Ty his bottle. It was a very peaceful time for me. As you know I am a huge fan of Baby Wise and it stated to keep the bottle until 15 months or so, but I did it longer because a lot of my friends said they stopped at 18 months. Monday night we said good-bye to the bottle for good*tear...sniff*. Instead we have several bed time books so we read two stories (just like we do for nap time) turn on Ty's music, say our prayers, and then it is time to lay down. The first couple of nights he fought it when I put him down, which he is always awake when I put him down, but I guess he knew something different. Last night was a little better and he still sleeps all night, so I guess he didn't need that silly bottle after all. I think it was just my way of wanting to hold on and trying to keep Ty my baby forever.
We are thrilled it is Friday we started out our morning by going to Open Gym this morning. Tyler and I start Mommy and Me Gymnastics on Monday! We saw so many friends this morning and had a blast. Sorry no pictures. After Ty's nap we are heading over to play with some more friends, and then tonight I get a girls night out with my best friend Sara that is coming in to town. We are going to go out with our Mom's. Ryan does not have class tomorrow so that is wonderful. Sunday is our Supper Club Super Bowl Party. It should be a fun weekend.

Nut

This is what I found when I opened Ty's door after his nap yesterday. What a nut!
Today was a little different because of the cold weather and icy conditions Westphalia had a 2 hour delay. So we had Ryan home with us this morning. Of course Ryan was up at 5 am making phone calls to local TV stations and Staff. Tyler and I still went to Bible Study this morning and had a great time. Ty has been making a lot of neat projects. I will have to get a picture of all of his art work.

18 Months

What Ty is up to these days:

1. Ty loves ELMO! Whenever he wants to watch Elmo, which is everyday he will go and the the DVD or just point to the TV. Don't tell Ty but I am taking him to see Elmo Live next Month in Waco with Hudson and Keifer. I can't wait.

2. Ty loves to be outside. He will stay out there for hours.

3. Ty loves to talk, sure we don't understand half of it but at least he is getting his voice out. Ty can say Dada, Mom, Ghee, Ball, Dog, Kitty, Thank you (still working on please),Elmo, cookie, cracker, and Bye and Bye. I am sure there is more that I am forgetting

4. Tantrums. Ty can throw an Academy Award Winning fit! I don't like this part at all. Ty has already had his first spanking and several slaps on his hand when he is doing something that he should not be doing.

5. Running. However, this week he has started running from me when he should not.

6. Ty loves trucks, buses, bulldozers..... well anything that goes vroom vroom

7. My favorite is Ty can put his clothes in his hamper. I love that he is starting to pick up after himself. I also love when I tell him to go get his shoes and he brings them to me. I will have him taking out the trash in no time.

8. Ty still cries every time I leave to go somewhere but it does not last long. He does it when I drop him of at the nursery, too but he gets over it.

My boy is growing up so fast and learning new things everyday. I love you Ty! You are my Monkey.

18 Month Check-UP

I am still having a hard time grasping the fact that Ty turned One and a Half today! I no longer have a baby. I have learned to cherish every minute because it flies by so fast. My big boy waiting to see Dr. Santema.
How mush does Ty weigh? Drum Roll Please....................................................

.......................................... 30 pounds 9 ounces and 34 1/2 inches tall! WOW!!!!! Ty is in the 90th percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for height. We have one growing boy.

Ty did so well at the Doctor today. The check up went really well and Ty even did ok when it came time for the two shots. I was so proud of him that I decided to take him to Target so he could get a toy. Of course we ended up with a ball! We are so pleased to have a healthy boy and we continue to pray for good health. I still can't believe Ty is 18 months.
On a side note Ryan is doing much better. We are thinking it was a case of the Flu. Next year maybe he will listen to me and get his flu shot like the rest of his family did! Of course he was out of bed early and is having to stay late tonight because of Basketball. This is always a busy time for Ryan.

I love A Good Sale

I love Old Navy and Gap when they have a Sale. Old Navy has a great work out selection. Go GO! Buy a pair of bottoms and get a top half off! You can't beat that. I also found some other Sale items. I usually love the kids clothes at Old Navy but I made myself stay away. I am in need of things for myself but every time I go in a store I always end up getting things for Ty. Which happened at my first stop yesterday, Gap. I have a gift card to Gap that was meant for me but my Mom and I made the mistake of going into Baby Gap. Come to find out they were having a huge sale! You guessed it, Ty got a BUNCH of new clothes and is now the owner of my gift card. I find it is much easier to shop for Ty than it is myself. It is also easier to shop with out Ty. Thanks to Ty's best friend, Poppy I was able to shop with just my Mom. Ty loves his Goggy. Ty can't say his P's yet so Poppy is Goggy or Gagoo. The cute thing is Ty shouts it. We are so thankful for Ghee and Poppy. Ty lights up when ever he sees them.
If you are ever around Old Nay and Gap your should check out their great deals.

Friday Fun Day Part 2

After Ty's nap on Friday we headed to Lions Park to play on the playground with Kendall and Connor. It was wonderful to getting to catch up with Heather. This our was first time to this playground so Ty had a great time exploring everything. I will have to admit Ty's favorite part about the park was the big field filled with many sticks next to the playground. Ty LOVES sticks. Ty also got to see some dogs. Another of Ty's favorite things. Here are some cute pictures of Ty enjoying our last day of warm weather: Playing Peek a boo.
Ty really likes tunnels.
Ty and Kendall on the steps. What cute kids!
Kendall was really wishing Ty would hurry up and climb up the steps.
We tried to get them to sit together, but that did not work so this is what we got instead. You will notice Ty with a stick. Thanks Heather for a fun afternoon. We will have to do it again when it is nice outside.
Friday was a beautiful night to sit out by the lake. We had a wonderful evening with very special friends. I am very excited about getting to hang out with Kirsten again. They were a very sweet couple.
The only bad apart about this weekend is "sickness strikes again" this time it is Ryan. Ryan came home on Friday with a high fever but continued to take Tylenol to get it back down. He would be ok for a while and then it would go back up. This same pattern continued all day yesterday while he was at class and this same pattern is continuing again today. He has not gotten out of bed all day and it is almost 1 pm. I told him he needs to go to the Doctor but he wont listen to me. I am just tired of living in a house with nasty germs. I have been washing my hands like crazy. I am doing the same thing with Ty. We used to never get sick. Hopefully this will pass soon and we are able to enjoy our week.

Friday Fun Day

I was so proud of Ty today because he climbed the slide and went down all by himself. There was also another mat that was leaning up against a balance beam that Ty climbed. I was shocked. It looks like we are entering a climbing stage.

We headed to Open Gym this Morning at Heart of Texas Gym. We usually go on Thursday's but I think we might start going on Friday beaus more of Ty's friends are in that class. We saw Keifer, Cinco, and Hudson. It was a fun Morning. Ty is always pooped after the gym. When it is time for his nap I told Ty to go to his bed and he did!
After Ty's nap we are going to head to the park because we have one more day of nice weather before it turns cold again. After that we will head home to get Ty ready for dinner and a slumber party with Poppy and Ghee. I am excited because that means I get a night out with Ryan. We are going to the Dead Fish Grill over looking Lake Belton for dinner and drinks with old and new friends. There is a young couple that works for my Mom's friend, Linda. They are new to Temple so Linda arranged for a group of us to get together so we could meet them. They both went to Abilene Christian so I am sure Ryan will enjoy swapping stories with them. I think it will be a fun night.
Ryan heads back to A&M tomorrow Morning. We are going to miss having him around on the weekends. That sure was a long Christmas Break. I am sure Ryan is ready to get back in the swing of things. We hope you all have a great weekend!

Couple's Night Out

Last Saturday was our Couple's Night out. Yes, I said last Saturday. I told you I have been behind. We had a wonderful dinner at the Beef Barn and then we headed to the Thompson's for some Wine and Wii. Well, there was no Wii for the girls because we were too busy talking and scheming. Kassie and I were planning our girl's trip this year. Drum Roll Please....... Condo on South Padre Island. We are going in May for 4 days! I am so excited.
We love spending time with the Thompson's and Belobrajdic's. We can't wait for next month.

Slacker

I realized today that I have not been up to date on my blog like I used to be. It hit me a few minutes ago when I was on the Westphalia Blog. Ryan has posted everyday this week and his wife has not! Oh, the pressure. I will say that I have always been proud of Ryan but after reading his blog I beam all over.
I used to blog everyday at the same time but it seems like the older Ty has gotten the more hectic our life has become. I would not change a thing about it. If we were not busy then what would I have to blog about?
Plus my New Years Resolution was to start working out. My parents gave me the Wii Fit for Christmas and I love it. However I have been working out during Ty's nap instead of blogging. Sometimes I have time to do both but then there are days like today that I had some other tasks to tackle. No matter what the day brings I know that I will always have this precious face to look at. We have had some unseasonably warm weather again this week so we have been out side A LOT! Ty can stay outside for hours playing with rocks and sticks.

When you have a toddler that loves to explore and get in to many things it is hard to find the time, or want to take the time to blog everyday but I know so many of you are depending on me so I will do better!!!

Just a little busy! The good news is Ty is doing much better. I will try and catch up tomorrow.

It Begins Again

I am not sure how to follow after Ryan's guest post yesterday. I think he did a great job and I think it inspired him to start a blog for Westphalia. If you look under my Family and Friends you will see that Ryan created a blog for Westphalia ISD.
Well our Sunday was spent taking Ty to the Weekend clinic for a High Fever and just not being feeling like himself. I was thinking it was another ear infection but it is just a sore throat. The Doctor mentioned that fevers and sore throats were going around because she saw several patients with the same symptoms. Please keep our sweet Ty in your prayers.
Thankfully after some Motrin, Gatorade, and Elmo Ty started acting like himself again. Thank goodness! Hopefully Ty will continue to mend and get some sleep, but I went ahead and made the decision to cancel all of our outings for Tomorrow and Tuesday Morning so we can rest and relax!
I know I am look forward to staying home. I am SO tired. With that being said I think I am going to call it a night.

Anything Mom can do Dad can do better...

OK, so Holly is off being pledge mom today for her Junior League girls and I get to be Mr. Mom today. (I'm sure if my professors at A&M found out I referred to myself as Mr. Mom I'd have to endure some lecture on the subjection of woman in a male-dominated society and the overall need for a society to leave behind its sexist biases of the traditional role of women in the home, but I digress) Since Holly has a well-earned reputation of being a little dictator when it comes to keeping a schedule, I thought I'd make a post during the day like she usually does. Besides, sometimes I feel that if there is not a post telling what's been going on in the day then nothing has happened.

Overall, the day has gone great. I made breakfast the morning. Ty and I ate eggs and biscuits, watched a little Elmo and Sportscenter, and even made a trip to Lowes. I also got to do a little vacuuming done while Ty ate his corn dog for lunch. He's napping right now...right on schedule...so we seem to be setting up for a great afternoon. The sun is shining, so I'm sure we'll be outside throwing rocks, picking up sticks, and barking at the dogs when he gets up. I doubt Holly will allow me to do much posting in the future, so for the first, and probably last time, I'll say goodbye from the world of blogging.

More Hair Pictures

These pictures were taken right after Ty's nap. Don't you love the teeth marks on the crib. What a precious BIG boy!

Ty got a little messy after lunch. Mmmm PBand J!

Ty's First Hair Cut

This morning Ty got his first hair cut. I will admit I was a little nervous and sad at the same time. My little boy is growing up way too fast. But, the end result was fabulous and Ty did a great job. All of the women at the Fountain of Beauty this morning loved talking to Ty and playing games with him. Some of you might be wondering if his hair is still curly, and YES it is! I also made sure to save Ty's baby hair in a baggy.
Ty looked like a big boy in the barbers chair. All ready to get his hair cut.
Megan did a great job and Ty loved her because she gave him a sucker afterwards.

The end result! It is not the best picture but I will try to get more later today. It is hard to get pictures of Ty outside because he does not stand still or look at the camera.
We are actually heading to Westphalia later this afternoon because Ryan has a board meeting tonight and would not be able to see Ty today. Plus, I need to make a lot of copies for Saturday's Orientation.

Saturday School

This morning we headed to Westphalia to unlock the school for a Free Throw Competition. Ty ruled the whole school. Ty loved all of the balls and he found his favorite things of all time..... a broom and dust pan! Ty walked all over the gym with the hand held dust pan. Enjoy all of the pictures. Ty even got to explore some classrooms. What a fun day!

Ty had a great time running in Daddy's Halls this morning. I think we will have to visit the school more often.
