Project Prom

Last Saturday I had the privilege of volunteering for the Junior League's Project Prom Event. This is just another reason why I am so blessed to live in this amazing community and why I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as President of JLBC in 2 years! What project prom is able to accomplish is truly amazing and brings hope and joy to some amazing High School Student's in need and with our help they are able to attend their Prom in style. This year we contacted all the Schools in Bell County and some surrounding areas. We spoke to Counselors and Community In Schools and told them about our goal and asked if they would pick two deserving Female students to be apart of Project Prom. The girls that were selected received a invitation to come to the Second Hand for a day of Beauty at our store. Each girl could invite one guest to come with them. Thankful to our wonderful league members, community, and services around town the girls were pampered. The girls were able to select a dress, shoes, and any accessories they needed to complete their outfit. When they girls were not trying on dresses and being our models they could enjoy a beautiful spread of food. After the girls found the perfect outfit we surprised them each with a gift bag including; manicures, pedicures, photo session, make-up and hair, and dry cleaning services. All of these items were donated by area business, and the look on the girls faces was so rewarding. The last of the girls to arrive were Temple High School students and they each brought a friend and their CIS Directors came with them for support, which truly was touching. We had the opportunity to learn about the amazing girls and everything that they are overcoming. Knowing a little about these amazing women put a new light on this amazing project for me, personally. The Temple High students were so appreciative and they kept hugging all of us, and saying thank you, thank you, over and over again. I left that afternoon feeling so blessed to be apart of such a wonderful organization that is touching the lives of so many in community. I still get goose bumps when I think about the impact we made last Saturday, and will continue to make through out the years to come. Amazing Volunteers all in black.

I am not able to post pictures of the girls faces for privacy reasons.
